Presented by Alan Kealy, Chairman of the National Council of Spar Retailers, on behalf of all Spar Retailers, the updated amount raised for the brand’s Charity Partner has now exceeded €605,000.
Accepting on behalf of the charity, Fergal Smyth addressed the group of retailers to express his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all involved in CFI.
Dedicated Wing
In an update on the allocation of monies raised through Spar, it was announced that a large sum of money will be used to fund a 20-bed cystic fibrosis dedicated wing in Beaumont Hospital, a much needed resource to provide a safe environment for recovery for people with CF, eliminating the risk of cross contamination from other patients.
Further money from the Spar funds will be allocated toward employing a childcare specialist in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, whose main goal will be to play and interact with children with CF in the hospital. Due to risk of cross contamination, children with CF are unable to join other children in the main play areas of the hospital.
