Tesco is seeking to recoup tens of millions of euros from the sale of 25 development sites it had acquired for new stores across 16 counties around Ireland, reports The Irish Examiner. The sites being sold off include two Dublin properties and five in Cork, including a 2.5 acre lot at the Wilton Shopping Centre, which could be worth around €2.5million.

Irish music star Jack L paid a visit to Maxol's new Auto24 outlet at Trinity Street, Wexford, last week, to celebrate the announcement of Maxol as official fuel partner to Wexford Spiegeltent Festival 2015. Jack L is set to perform at the festival on 22 October. “Maxol is delighted to be at the heart of the community in partnering with Wexford Spiegeltent Festival," said Fergal Harrington, Group Brand Development Manager, the Maxol Group.

A group representing Fyffes and members of UNICEF have returned from a fact-finding mission to South Sudan, which was undertaken to assess the extent of polio in the region and the administration of a vaccination programme being funded by the banana importer. Fyffes recently backed a similar vaccination campaign in Nigeria, which saw the deadly polio virus effectively eradicated in the country.

The Powerscourt whiskey distillery in Wicklow has lodged plans to build a €10 million craft distillery, saying that the investment will create 30 jobs during construction and 18 full time jobs when it is operating. The distillery is also expected to be able to produce more than a million bottles of whiskey a year.

Musgrave Marketplace has won an award for its Musgrave Excellence Curry Sauce and a 'highly-commended' honour for its Musgrave Excellence Salted Caramel Muffins at the Irish Café Quality Food & Drink Awards, which took place at the Mansion House in Dublin on 16 September. The awards were open to all national, regional and independent cafés, as well as food producers, wholesalers, contract caterers and food service operators who serve the Irish café industry.

Eircom has rebranded itself to Eir, debuting a new simplified logo and branding across its communications products. The rebranding is expected to cost €16 million, including changing the logos on its uniforms, vehicles, and in stores. However, its mobile phone business Meteor will remain a standalone brand.
