Flahavan’s has reported a 15% increase in profits, according to the latest accounts filed for the company, the Sunday Business Post reports. Owner Finegrove Holdings recorded a €2.4 million pre-tax profit for the year ended June 30, 2015, up from €2.1 million in the previous year. Turnover rose by 7% to €18.1 million.

Dunnes Stores is fighting a High Court bid to make it keep the doors of its Edward Square Shopping Centre store in Galway open, reports Independent.ie. The door allows pedestrian access to Eyre Square, but Dunnes, the anchor tenant at the six-unit shopping centre concourse, says there is no ‘keep open’ clause in its lease with landlord Camiveo.

RGDATA has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanala to block the development of a two storey Lidl food store in Enniscorthy, according to Wexfordpeople.ie. The Wexford County Council had approved the new development last month, but the appeal to An Bord Pleanala by RGDATA has put brakes on the project.

Wine wholesaler and distributor Febvre has recorded a pretax profit of €578,198 for 2014, reports the Sunday Business Post. According to recently filed reports, its turnover was €48.9 million, a slight decrease on the previous year.

Chairman of the IFA, John Finn has urged consumers to support Irish milk producers. Speaking on on World Milk Day last week, he said it was important to remember that while Ireland’s dairy output is expanding, fresh liquid milk produced by specialist producers year-round at a substantially higher cost must not be taken for granted.

National Strawberry Week is taking place from 6 to 12 June, aimed at encouraging consumers to enjoy more Irish strawberries.  According to Kantar, retail sales of strawberries in Ireland have increased by almost 20% year-on-year, with over 7.7 million kilogrammes being sold in the last 12 months, valued at €74.3 million.

The High Court has ruled that Aldi has a right to an account of profits made by Dunnes Stores during a 2013 campaign that compared its prices with the discounters. According to the Sunday Business Post, the court ruled that Dunnes had breached EU and Irish rules through the use of shelf labelling and banners claiming its prices were cheaper on a number of items.
