An attempt by Constellation Brands to buy over Brown-Forman has failed after the drinks behemoth’s bid was turned down, according to reports. Brown-Forman owns world-famous whiskey brand Jack Daniels.
Independent News & Media’s (INM) research initiative ‘The Book of Evidence’ received worldwide recognition at the International News Media Association (INMA) Global Media Awards, which took place at the Harvard Club of New York City on Tuesday evening, May 23rd. The Book of Evidence earned second place in the category of Best Use of Consumer Research at the Global Media Awards competition.
Continuous bus corridors with segregated cycling facilities are to be introduced on 17 major bus routes in Dublin as part of a more than €1 billion upgrade of Dublin Bus, according to Irishtimes.ie. Described by the NTA as “next generation” bus corridors, eleven radial bus routes, three Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes, and three orbital bus corridors are to be upgraded so that each will have continuous bus priority to “remove the current delays and uncertainties” in the service.
Large companies have invested more in the craft beer market, reported The Irish Times. In Ireland, Franciscan Well was one of the first Irish craft breweries to draw interest from the macro sector and was bought out by Molson Coors in 2013. Last month Hijos de Rivera (owners of the Estrella brand) purchased a 32 per cent stake in O’Hara’s, one of Ireland’s oldest microbreweries.
IFA National Livestock Chairman Angus Woods stated that the cattle trade has remained fairly strong with the base price for steers at €4.15/kg and some top prices of €4.20 paid. According to ifa.ie, Woods said heifers have improved in price with €4.30/kg a more common base, but prices ranging from €4.25 to €4.35. On the international beef trade, Angus Woods said beef prices in the main producing continents are competitive with US and Canadian prices at €4.45/4.50/kg.
The deputy director general and chief human resources officer of Nestlé SA in Switzerland, Peter Vogt, has been announced as the new chairman of the supervisory board of Nestlé Germany AG, based in Frankfurt. Vogt has replaced the current chairman Professor Dr. Warner Bauer who held the position for 10 years.
