Aldi Ireland has announced that it has submitted a planning application to open a new store at Jervis Street in Ardee.
If given the green light, the €5 million development will support up to 80 jobs during the construction phase, as well as the creation of 20 permanent jobs once the store opens.
“This is great news for shoppers and for employment in Ardee," said Donald Mackay, managing director Aldi Naas Region.
Aldi said that it plans to open the 1,315sqm new store in mid-2021.
Featuring Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh design, the store will be powered by 100% green electricity, with 87 free car parking spaces and 12 bicycle spaces available for customers.
The new store is a as part of its €160 million Irish store network investment programme.
It has committed €100 million to constructing and opening 20 new stores, while Project Fresh sees a further €60 million investment to revamp the layout and design of all 139 Aldi stores nationwide.
