Aldi Ireland has announced that a planning application will soon be lodged with Mayo County Council for a new store in Ballyhaunis.
If approved, the new store will expand the retailer’s Co. Mayo portfolio to five stores, with their latest store in Belmullet, open since last August, 2020.
The discounter said that it has reached an agreement to purchase the centrally located 9-acre greenfield site on Main Street in the town centre to build the new 1,315m² store.
New Jobs
The new store will create 30 new local jobs with the retailer in Ballyhaunis, if it goes ahead, the retailer said.
In addition, 50 jobs will be created during the construction of the proposed new store.
Looking ahead, Aldi said that also has plans to open a store in Ballina.
Aldi's current portfolio of Co.Mayo stores are located in Castlebar, Claremorris and Ballinrobe.
