Aldi has been crowned the number one Irish supermarket at the International Taste Institute Awards, which was held in Brussels this week.
Eleven different Aldi products were among those recognised for their quality and taste, which was the most accolades won by an Irish supermarket at the event.
Irish Beef Range
Aldi’s Specially Selected Tipperary Dry Aged Black Angus Ribeye Steak, was the first Irish product to receive the Crystal status by the International Taste Institute last year, an honour bestowed on a product for receiving the elusive three-star accreditation for three consecutive years.
This product was once again awarded three stars this year, bringing it closer to the much sought after Diamond Award, which is awarded when a product receives three stars on its 7th occasion, the retailer explained.
This year Aldi’s Specially Selected Irish Black Angus Rib Eye Steak was also awarded the coveted Crystal status by the international panel of judges, having now won three stars, three years in a row.
“Our Irish beef range has been receiving awards from the International Taste Institute for many years. This is now the second year that we can proudly take home a Crystal certification for another one of our beef products," said John Curtin, Aldi group buying director.
"Last year’s Crystal winner, our Specially Selected Tipperary Dry Aged Irish Black Angus Rib Eye Steak, continues its winning streak and is now joined at Crystal status by our Specially Selected Irish Black Angus Rib Eye Steak," he added.
