Aldi Ireland cut prices on 81 popular products on Thursday 15 February.
The move comes as part of the retailer’s commitment to offering Irish customers high-quality products at affordable prices.
Last month, Aldi announced a price drop on 150 products, bringing the total number of products seeing price cuts to over 230, so far in 2024.
Investment
Representing an investment of over €12 million, the cuts will take place across departments including dairy, bakery, meat and confectionery.
The discount retailer also confirmed that the price cuts will not impact the prices paid to any of its suppliers.
Earlier this month, Aldi announced a €1.1 billion spend with Irish suppliers in 2023, which included a number of new contracts.
According to data from Kantar, the average product price in Aldi has dropped by almost 4%, year on year.
‘Commitment’
Commenting on the price cuts, Aldi Ireland managing director of buying and services Colin Breslin said, “In 2024, we continue to focus on providing our Irish customers with great-quality products at the lowest-possible prices.
“Last month, we implemented almost 150 new price cuts as we reaffirmed our commitment to our customers to continue reducing prices as and when we can.
“Today, we’re cutting the prices on a further 81 products, bringing the total number of products we’ve cut prices on this year up to 230.”
Breslin continued, “Our commitment to our customers remains as it has always been – we will provide the best value in the market, and will not be beaten on price.
“Today’s announcement is yet another demonstration of that commitment.”
