Aldi Ireland has announced the launch of its spring-summer wine range for 2025 – due to land on shelves on 3 March – with the help of wine expert Tom Doorley.
This year’s collection boasts a wide selection of reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines, as well as brand-new ready-to-drink (RTD) spritzes and non-alcoholic varieties – meaning that there is something for everyone.
Aldi has enlisted well-known Irish wine expert and wine ambassador Tom Doorley to examine the new collection and offer insights into what is available.
Speaking about the seasonal range, Doorley said, “It is always exciting to dive into Aldi’s seasonal wine collections, and this year is no exception.
“Keenly priced, as ever, and featuring both old favourites and exciting new additions from unexpected regions like Bulgaria and Macedonia, there’s something for everyone.
“As to what’s likely to be the best sellers in this collection, I have a few ideas!”
Recommendations
For a zero-alcohol option, Doorley recommends Cambalala 0% Pinot Grigio Blush (€3.99), saying, “Think strawberries and cream, the taste of summer.”
Hitting on the classics of rosé, red and white, Doorley recommends the Bulgarian Pinot Noir Rosé (€8.99), the Macedonian Primitivo Kratosija (€8.99) and the Specially Selected Costiéres de Nîmes Blanc (€9.99).
Red-wine fans seeking something different should opt for the Specially Selected Caladoc Rouge (€11.99), which Doorley calls “a cross between Grenache and Malbec”.
With skin-contact white wine joining rosé in taking over Instagram, the Specially Selected French Rosorange Rosé (€11.99) went viral in the UK last year.
Finally, Doorley recommends “Syrah with a difference” – the Specially Selected Washington State Syrah (€11.99), which includes a specific freshness and a touch of pepper.
‘Brand-New Gems’
Commenting on this year’s collection, the buying director of wine at Aldi, Rachael O Connor, said, “We are thrilled to unveil this year’s spring/summer wine collection.
“At Aldi, we are committed to delivering great-quality products at exceptional prices, and I am confident that this year’s collection delivers on that promise for Irish wine lovers.
“I am thrilled to bring back favourites from France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Argentina, as well as brand-new gems from the likes of Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Germany and South Africa, meaning: there’s something to suit every taste.
“I hope our customers have as much fun exploring this year’s collection as we did curating it.”
