Aldi Ireland has named its store in Westside Retail Park, Ballincollig, Co. Cork, its happiest store in the country, following nationwide internal research by the retailer.
The supermarket chain conducted a survey of employees at all 162 of its Irish stores, to determine the ‘happiest’ one.
Job satisfaction, colleague relationships, and day-to-day emotions were key factors that the survey examined.
As Aldi celebrates 25 years in Ireland this year, it has noted that the Ballincollig outlet was the retailer’s joint-first store in the country – along with Parnell Street in Dublin – when it opened in 1999.
Aldi Ballincollig currently employs 17 staff members, including store manager Jackie Young, who has been with Aldi since 2002.
Over the past 25 years, Aldi has expanded its Irish footprint to 162 stores across the country, and it prides itself on being a positive and supportive place for employees, as well as providing value and quality to customers.
Aldi recognised the Ballincollig store for how enjoyable employees found their roles, along with the general happiness of shoppers visiting the store.
Ballincollig employees recommended Aldi as a great place to work, saying that they “rave” about the store and often encourage shoppers to visit.
‘An Integral Part Of The Area’
Speaking about the honour, store manager Young said, “As store manager, we are committed to making sure our colleagues are happy in their roles, so I was thrilled to discover that our Ballincollig store is truly the ‘happiest’.
“Our Ballincollig store has a really solid community around it, and our Aldi team in Cork has become an integral part of the area in the 25 years since it has been in business.
“We welcome a lot of the same faces daily, and our staff have a really good rapport with our regular customers.
“We are confident that, as well as our unbeatable prices, it is the excellent customer service and shopping experience that keeps our customers coming back.
“This store embodies everything Aldi stands for – a strong sense of community, a dedicated team, and a commitment to making every customer experience joyful.
“It’s a true reflection of how retail can bring people together and create moments of happiness every day.”
As Aldi continues its celebration of 25 years in Ireland, the Ballincollig and Parnell Street stores will carry the festivities into November.
