Aldi Ireland Reopens Cork ‘Project Fresh’ Store Following €1.1m Investment

Aldi Ireland’s store in Grange, Douglas, Co. Cork, has reopened today, following a renovation as part of ‘Project Fresh’.

The extensive renovation project, worth over €1.1 million, has seen the store interior completely refurbished.

The updated store features a new layout, which includes a wide selection of fresh food at the front of the store, hi-spec fixtures and fittings throughout, and new product category signage, for a seamless shopping experience.

Aldi has expanded its award-winning ‘Project Fresh’ design to six Irish stores as part of a €7.2 million investment.

The upgraded stores include new units, such as a fresh herb stand and a health-and-beauty feature.

Aldi has installed self-service checkouts in a number of stores, including the Douglas store, ahead of their trial with the public, beginning this Friday.

Sustainability And Community

One-hundred-per-cent wind-generated energy now powers Aldi’s entire store network.

The retailer has also achieved ISO 50001 accreditation, in recognition of its efforts to improve energy efficiencies.

Also, the reopened store will receive a CO2 upgrade, meaning that there will be more environmentally friendly refrigerants in store than before.

Aldi’s Grange store is part of the retailer’s Community Grants network and participates in Aldi’s partnership with FoodCloud.

Speaking about the reopening, store manager Matthew Moloney said, “The ‘Project Fresh’ revamp of our store is fantastic news for our local customers.

“The new, spacious design makes for a very enjoyable shop, and customers can easily find everything they need, with convenient store-opening hours.

“We are also thrilled to take part in the trial of Aldi’s brand-new self-checkouts.
