Aldi Ireland’s Sandyford store has reopened, following a ‘Project Fresh’ renovation project, representing an investment of over €1 million.
The updated Sandyford store – which reopened yesterday – now features Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh layout, which includes a wide selection of fresh food at the front of the store, hi-spec fixtures and fittings throughout, as well as new product category signage, which provides an effortless shopping experience.
The customer-focused layout allows for shoppers to easily find the products that they know and love while exploring new categories.
Checkout magazine recognised Aldi’s Project Fresh design at the 2023 National Grocery Retail Awards, wherein Aldi scooped the Discounter Store of the Year Award, for its Adamstown store.
It won, thanks, in part, to its superior quality of display across its fresh fruit and vegetable offerings.
Project Fresh Enhanced
Last year, Aldi invested €7.2 million in upgrading six of its stores throughout Ireland with the launch of Project Fresh Enhanced.
Project Fresh Enhanced introduced exciting elements in store, such as a fresh herb stand and a dedicated health-and-beauty feature.
The retailer has begun the installation of self-service checkouts, and the refurbished Sandyford store will have a number of these checkouts alongside manned tills.
Aldi has invested heavily in improving its energy management systems, and 100% wind-generated energy now powers its entire store network.
The retailer has achieved ISO 50001 accreditation, in recognition of its efforts to improve energy efficiencies.
The renovated store will also receive a CO2 upgrade, meaning that there will be more environmentally friendly refrigeration in store.
‘New, Spacious Design’
Speaking at the reopening, store manager Nedko Kolev Yordanov said, “The Project Fresh revamp of our store is fantastic news for our local customers.
“The new, spacious design makes for a very enjoyable shop, and customers can easily find everything they need with convenient store-opening hours.
“We are also thrilled to take part in the trial of Aldi’s new self-checkouts.
“Our promise to our Dublin customers is that we will never be beaten on price, and we will always provide the best value.
“In this current environment, it is more important than ever that customers can always avail of great-value products at unbeatable prices here in Aldi.”
Aldi’s Sandyford store is an important part of the local community and participates in the retailer’s national partnership with FoodCloud, donating surplus food to local charities daily.
The store is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with the Women’s Collective Ireland, the Tallaght Cancer Support Group and the Irish Heart Foundation some of the local charities that have benefitted from the programme in recent years.
