Aldi Ireland has revealed the country’s most romantic counties and its best deals ahead of Valentine’s Day this week.
The top ten most romantic counties according to the survey are,

- Mayo
- Westmeath
- Clare
- Roscommon
- Donegal
- Cork
- Laois
- Meath
- Waterford
The survey – which queried 2,000 people across 26 counties – has revealed that some 82% of couples plan to celebrate Valentine’s this Friday.
Gen Z are leading the charge in romance as 55% of those aged 18-24 view Valentine’s Day as an exciting opportunity to express their love, while in the 35-44 category, some 51% of those surveyed said they prefer a Valentine’s night in.
At Home
Some 41% of those surveyed plan to celebrate at home, and with just under 70% of the population describing themselves as ‘romantic,’ Aldi is offering great value to give shoppers everything they need for a memorable night in.
The retailer is offering up to 30% off premium 100% Bord Bia Quality Assured steaks from Aldi’s award-winning Specially Selected range from 12 to 14 February.
Aldi also has a selection of discounted wines, including up to 25% off rich red wines and sparkling fizz, available from 10 to 14 February.
Some 42% of respondents also said they plan to buy a gift for their partner this Valentine’s Day, so Aldi has a Hotel Collection Candle (€4.49) or for someone with a sweet tooth, Specially Selected Nocciola Chocolates (€3.49) and Thorton’s Classic Chocolates (€7.99).
Or for flower fans – with some 87% of respondents saying they buy flowers from supermarkets – Aldi has bouquets on offer starting at €1.79.
