Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association, Anna May McHugh, has cut the ribbon to officially open Aldi’s new Athy store, bringing the total number of Aldi stores in Ireland to 123.
Speaking at the opening today (10 March), McHugh commented, "As I live locally I am delighted to help open this fantastic new store which is a great boost to the local community.
"Aldi is a loyal supporter of the National Ploughing Championship with its exhibition being one of the standout features of the Championship year after year."
The store’s manager, Iwona Szawarejko expressed delight at the opening, saying, "Aldi has grown in popularity across Ireland in recent years and we are pleased to make the quality, value and variety of our product ranges available to more people throughout Co. Kildare."
Aldi currently works with over 175 Irish suppliers, with all of its fresh meats, fresh poultry, eggs, bread, flour, and many of its teas, coffees, soft drinks, waters and snacks being provided by Irish companies.
Its Kildare suppliers include Irish Dog Foods, JZ Flowers International, Taravale Foods and Coghlan’s Bakery.
