Aldi will again sponsor this year’s National Brown Bread Baking Competition, in association with the National Ploughing Association (NPA) and the Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA).
The winner of the competition will receive €5,000 and as well as seeing their bread stocked in Aldi stores, they will also receive 10% of the profits from its sale. The runners up will receive between €200 and €1,000.
The qualifiers for the National Brown Bread Baking Competition will be held across Ireland through the ICA. The semi-finals and final will be held from 22nd to 24th of September at the Aldi Marquee during the 2015 National Ploughing Championships
Last year’s winner, Betty Williams of Tipperary said, “I was absolutely thrilled to have won, it came as a great shock as I never saw the end coming. Everyone was wonderful and my sincere thanks to all involved. The best of luck to everyone taking part this year."
Group Buying Director, Rob Farrell commented, "At Aldi, we are a proud supporter of Irish suppliers so we are delighted to sponsor The National Brown Bread Baking Competition for the second year in a row, celebrating something as quintessentially Irish as brown bread.”
Aldi has also announced its sponsorship for the National Junior Baking Competition in association with youth organisation Foróige, also set to take place in the Aldi Marquee.
The theme of this competition is ‘County Cakes’, and the winner will win a KitchenAid Stand Mixer as well as a trip for their local youth group to Delphi Adventure Centre in Mayo.
