Aldi Ireland today announced it will be bringing up to 25 new permanent jobs to Cootehill, Co Cavan as it plans to open a new store in the town.
An additional 50 jobs will be created during construction of the proposed new store, which will see a substantial investment into the local area.
The news for Cootehill shoppers comes as Aldi has submitted a planning application for a new 1,315 square metre store to Cavan Co Council. The new store will be centrally located on Station Road close to Market Street.
Powered By Green Electricity
Constructed in accordance with Aldi's award-winning Project Fresh design, the new environmentally friendly store will be powered by 100% green electricity and will feature four electric vehicle charging points outside the store.
There will be 93 car parking spaces available, along with 10 bike parking spaces.
“We have been planning to open in Cootehill for some time and are delighted to have identified a site in the town centre,” said Donald Mackay, Aldi regional managing director.
“The environmentally friendly store is designed to meet the shopping needs of the local community and will be landscaped to complement the local area.”
Partnership with FoodCloud
Aldi’s existing store on the Dublin Road in Cavan Town participates in its national partnership with FoodCloud, donating surplus food to local charities daily. It has donated over 27,000 meals to charity to date.
It is also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with Cuan Cancer Social Support Centre just one of many charities availing of a bursary grant in recent times.
