Aldi has announced that it has won 53 awards at this year’s Great Taste Awards, including 2 stars for its Specially Selected Cashel Blue Cheese, its Specially Selected New York Style Pastrami and its Butchers Selection Irish Fillet Steak with results announced yesterday, 21 September.
With a number of products performing incredibly well in this year’s awards, Aldi said that it is 'over the moon' to have secured the most awards for a private label range in Ireland.
Speaking about the success at this year’s awards, John Curtin, group buying director of Aldi Ireland, said, “We take pride in sourcing as many locally produced and Irish made products as we can, and to see these products winning awards on an international level is something that we, and our amazing suppliers should be very proud of."
"We know that our customers want to purchase products that not only taste great, but that are grown by and sourced from farmers and producers in the local community,” he added.
Leading Private Label Range
Having had a very successful year at last year’s awards, the Aldi said that its team is 'thrilled' to have secured their position of Ireland’s leading private label range.
The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for find food and drink.
Since 1994, over 150,000 products have been put through the robust Great Taste Awards judging process, with each product that is entered fastidiously blind-tasted by a selection of some of the best chefs, retails, restauranteurs, and food critics, who look for truly great tasting products, regardless of branding or packaging.
At this year’s Great Taste Awards, Aldi won a total of 53 titles. For more information on the award-winning products available in all of Aldi’s 148 stores nationwide, visit www.aldi.ie.
