In the last two years, the Applegreen Charitable Fund has donated nearly €600,000 to CMRF Crumlin, the fundraising body for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, and Anam Cara, a bereavement support group for parents.
Over €378,752 has been put towards the refurbishment of the Radiology Department at CMRF Crumlin, with the remaining €214,661 going towards Anam Cara’s support services and information packs.
The money was raised via Applegreen’s one cent campaign, where one cent from every transaction is donated to the fund, as well as through collection boxes placed in store.
The total amount donated by Applegreen since it started the fund in 2009 now stands at €1,244,407.
Joe Quinsey, CEO of CMRF Crumlin, said, "We would like to say a massive thank you to Applegreen for the significant part you have played in transforming our Radiology Department. With Applegreen's help we have been able to ensure we deliver on our mission to give every sick child a chance."
Sharon Vard, co-founder and CEO of Anam Cara, said, "We are truly grateful to Applegreen for their support of Anam Cara these past two years. Through their support Anam Cara has been able to develop two key resources, an information pack and supporting videos of bereaved parents."
The Fund will focus solely on children’s charities in 2016/17, supporting Barnardos, ISPCC / Childline, DEBRA Ireland and Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
