Applegreen has been shortlisted for the Star of 2016 European Small and Mid-Cap Awards.
As a leading motorway service area operator in Ireland, it is one of three companies shortlisted for the award by the independent jury set up by the European Commission. The company has seen a significant presence as a petrol forecourt retailer in the UK.
The European Small and Mid-Cap Awards aim is to promote best practices and encourages more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access capital markets via Initial Public Offering (IPO). Applegreen is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) since June 2015 and raised €70m on its IPO.
The judging panel of The Star of 2016 Award is looking for an exceptional performer in its sector. Other criteria that will be taken into consideration highlights that the company should stand out from the crowd; have clear growth potential; be well-managed and have made good use of the proceeds of flotation.
The winner of the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards will be announced in Brussels on 17 November.
Applegreen’s service stations have convenience retail stores, that include franchises operated by Applegreen at larger sites, including: Burger King, Costa Coffee, Greggs, Chopstix and Subway.
