At the opening of its new Wicklow outlet this morning, Applegreen will announce that it plans to substantially expand its network of forecourts over the next eighteen months.
Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton will be hand as the company officially opens its new motorway service station at Coyne’s Cross today. By the end of next year, Applegreen intends to open six more service stations that will ultimately yield 360 new jobs as part of a €30 million investment in the company’s Irish network.
Three of these stations – situated in Lemybrien, County Waterford, Birdhill, County Tipperary and swords, County Dublin – are currently under construction. It is estimated that the construction of the six new stations will generate a further 250 jobs.
The Wicklow service station also includes a children’s play area, Burger King, Costa Coffee and Subway that will service one of the major tributaries of traffic feeding in and out of Dublin. Approximately 35,000 motorists will pass it every single day.
