Boots Ireland has partnered with influencer Rachel Gorry to launch this year’s Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing Service.

Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses provide end-of-life care for cancer patients, allowing them to spend their final days at home surrounded by family and loved ones, as well as giving a respite to the family caring for them.

The service is free for people who avail of it.

Boots Ireland has partnered with the Irish Cancer Society since 2012 and through the support of their team members, patients and customers have raised €3.3 million for the service so far.

That is the equivalent of approximately 9,100 nights of care.

This year, Boots is calling on the public to sign up and walk 3.5km together on Tuesday 10 September to support the charity.

There will be a big walk at Phoenix Park in Dublin, but participants can complete the walk at a location of their choosing.

‘Close To My Heart’

Gorry will be participating in the walk this year in honour of her late partner Daniel who passed away due to oesophageal cancer in 2021.

Speaking about the initiative, she said, “I am honoured to be taking part in this year’s Night Walk, supporting the incredible work of nurses who make a real difference in the lives of so many people.

“This is a cause that is very close to my heart.
