Boots Ireland’s Night Walk has raised a record €189,977 for the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing Service, the retailer announced today.
The remarkable fundraising milestone means that the charity can provide approximately 370 nights of end-of-life care due to the donation.
These nights of care will allow patients to spend their final days at home surrounded by loved ones, as well as providing essential respite for families.
Since 2012, Boots customers and colleagues have raised over €3.5 million for the organisation – funding approximately 9,500 nights of care.
Now in its 13th year, the Night Walk has inspired over 6,000 participants to collectively walk approximately 300,000 kilometres in solidarity with patients and families impacted by cancer.
Highlighting the great achievement, the managing director of Boots Ireland Stephen Watkins expressed his gratitude to all of those who took part.
Watkins said, “We are immensely proud to partner with the Irish Cancer Society and deeply grateful for the outpouring of support for this year’s Night Walk.
“This record-breaking achievement will bring comfort and support to so many families facing incredibly difficult times.
“Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.”
