BWG Foods has launched a new, innovative branded self-service tea station, which it is currently trialling in its Castlebar store.
The owners and operators of the Londis brand in Ireland announced that the in-store Local Tea Company has been designed in response to growing consumer demand, and it allows retailers to differentiate their hot-beverage offering, especially within the speciality tea category.
Commenting, Orla Jordan, the head of food and beverage innovation with BWG Foods, said, “At BWG Foods, we have a constant focus on innovation, to meet changing consumer needs.
“The Local Tea Company is our bespoke response to the growing demand for tea drinkers to have a dedicated offering, to meet their needs,” Jordan added.
First Trial
According to BWG, it is anticipated that the Local Tea Company – initially available on a trial basis in Mulroy’s Londis, in Castlebar, Co. Mayo – will be rolled out across the wider BWG Foods estate in due course, providing customers with plenty of options to help make the perfect personalised cup of tea.
“We are confident our offering will prove to be very popular with customers, and is already doing so in Mulroy’s Londis, in Castlebar,” Jordan said.
Speciality Range
Consumer demand for herbal teas with health benefits is constantly growing, and with health and well-being high on most people’s agendas, tea drinkers will now have a dedicated offering to meet their needs, BWG highlighted.
The Local Tea Company will stock a speciality range to include the top tea flavours from around the world and complement traditional Irish tea, such as Barry’s, Lyons and Bewley’s.
BWG noted that everyone likes to ‘make their brew their own way’, and with a range of herbal alternatives including rooibos, peppermint, fruit infusions and green tea also available, the Local Tea Company will cater to all.
