Leading product and service providers to the retail sector have been honoured at the inaugural Checkout National Retail Supplier Awards, which took place at the Radisson Blu Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
The event paid tribute to the ‘unsung heroes’ of the Irish retail sector; suppliers that are fundamental to the success of the industry, in areas such as shop equipment, packaging, merchandising, software development, cleaning, security, recruitment, third party logistics and fleet management.
The top award of the afternoon, for Retail Solution of the Year, was presented to AIB Merchant Services for its ‘Clover’ electronic point-of-sale solution.
In addition, two awards were presented to retailers, for excellence in store development: Lidl Gorey, in County Wexford, won the Best New Store Build category, while Garvey's SuperValu Dingle took the prize for Best Store Redesign.
Around 150 top level executives from across the industry were present for the gala Awards Lunch, which saw awards presented in 13 categories. Comedian Oliver Callan was also on hand to entertain guests. The awards were judged by a panel of 15 of the country’s top independent grocers.
