Circle K Ireland has today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire nine forecourt and convenience locations from convenience retail group Pelco.
The leading forecourt and convenience retailer has acquired seven locations in Dublin, one in Co. Meath, and one in Co. Westmeath.
The acquisition is subject to approval from the CCPC.
A total of 142 staff members currently work at the aforementioned locations, and all of them will become Circle K employees and continue working at the nine outlets.
This will bring the total number of Circle K employees in Ireland to 2,574, and the amount of sites owned by the company in Ireland will increase from 168 to 177.
Alongside its dealer partner network of 242 locations, the total number of Circle K locations in Ireland will reach 419.
The rebrand and integration of the nine stores will take place over the coming months.
At these locations, Circle K will also integrate existing offerings – such as a deli, a car wash, and other facilities – into its product and service offering.
Today’s announcement builds on sustained investment by Circle K in the Irish market since its arrival in 2016, with €230 million invested in that period.
‘Serve The Needs Of Even More Customers’
Speaking about the development, the managing director of Circle K Ireland, Ciara Foxton, said, “We are delighted to make this announcement today, as we add nine strategically located and highly valuable forecourt locations to the Circle K network in Ireland.
“This acquisition is a key part of Circle K’s growth strategy and will significantly enhance our established and extensive convenience store and forecourt network.
“Every week, we welcome approximately 1.5 million customers to our stores, and this will now enable us to serve the needs of even more customers in Ireland, providing them with the quality products and services they come to expect when they visit Circle K.
“Most importantly, I would like to formally welcome our new retail colleagues from Pelco to the Circle K family.
“Pelco are renowned for excellent customer service and extremely high standards in forecourt and convenience retailing.
“We believe the skills and experience of our new colleagues will greatly complement our own amazing staff across our network of locations.”
