Before flying out to Paris for Ireland's Euro 2016 opener against Sweden, Claudine Keane officially launched SPAR’s new health and wellbeing initiative, SPAR Better Choices, on Saturday.
The initiative, which will be rolled out to stores across the country this summer, aims to offer customers a new range of healthy and convenient options across the fresh food, deli and grocery ranges. It also caters to customers with varying nutritional needs with low-fat, high-protein, and gluten-free products on offer.
Spar partnered with dietician Ellen Roche, a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute to research and carefully select which produce to include in the range. All products selected will be highlighted in stores with the SPAR Better Choices logo to offer customers guidance on choosing the best foods for their lifestyle while on the move.
Commenting at the launch Claudine said; "I am delighted to launch the SPAR Better Choices initiative. As a family we are always on the move and when we come back to Ireland, it’s important to be able to provide the boys with nutritious snacks be it for breakfast, lunch or on-the-go and I am thrilled to see SPAR now has this covered off. This summer we are particularly busy so I will certainly be stocking up on snacks from SPAR."
Speaking about the initiative, Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director BWG Foods, commented: "At SPAR we are committed to providing our customers with the best product offerings across our stores. We are delighted to announce the SPAR Better Choices campaign, which we have been working on with Ellen Roche in order to develop this more comprehensive health offering. Our customers, many of whom are parents, are leading busy lives on the run and we feel passionate that eating well should be a priority and that with the SPAR Better Choices range they can expect to find the right choice for them under the tree at SPAR."
