The Coeliac Society of Ireland today (27 April) announced its new online self-assessment tool to help people identify the symptoms of coeliac disease.
The announcement was made at the launch of Coeliac Awareness Week, on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay which was supported by Cookbook author and surfer Finn Ní Fhaoláin.
Commenting in advance, Fergal O’Sullivan, CEO of the Coeliac Society of Ireland, said, “There is huge confusion among the public about the symptoms of coeliac disease, and the seriousness of the medical condition."
"We’ve developed an online tool to help people who are worried about gluten intolerance or the symptoms of coeliac disease to check their symptoms, before seeking further medical advice." O'Sullivan added.
As well as launching its new tool during Coeliac Awareness Week, O'Sullivan outlined that a range of events will take place nationwide to mark the week including a campaign aimed at GPs and pharmacists to raise awareness of the symptoms of coeliac disease.
Coeliac Awareness Week is which is supported by SuperValu will take place from 8 to 15 May.
