Lidl Ireland has announced that construction for the retailer’s new store in Bettystown, Co. Meath, is under way.
Brian Smyth, regional property director for Lidl Ireland, said, “We have had an ambition to bring our award-winning products and market-leading value to Bettystown for some time.”
New Jobs
The plans submitted by Lidl will see a ‘significant investment into the local area’, creating up to 30 new jobs with the retailer.
Lidl noted that the recruitment move forms part of an overall commitment to 700 new roles in Ireland this year.
The project will also support over 80 additional construction jobs through the development phase.
“Not only will this new Lidl store bring significant local investment and new jobs to the local community, in addition, it will bring more fundraising for local Ladies’ Gaelic Football clubs, schools, and charity groups in the area,” Smyth added.
“We’re excited to open our doors to customers in Bettystown later this year.”
Co. Meath Store Network
Smyth highlighted that the retailer’s new store will bring Lidl’s store network in Co. Meath to six.
Having first opened in the county in 2004, in Trim, Lidl Ireland employs more than 110 people across its stores in Ashbourne, Clonee, Trim, Dunshaughlin and Navan.
Sustainability
The discounter noted that sustainability is at the heart of its plans for the new location in Bettystown, with the retailer’s pioneering concept design.
This incorporates LED lighting, an energy-efficient heating system provided by 100% green energy, and ample customer car-parking, with EV charger points.
