Casino's board approved moving forward with talks on Monday with Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky over a plan to inject €1.2 billion of new money in the distressed French retailer, the group said. Kretinsky's attempt to gain control of Casino, France's sixth-largest retailer, appears to be getting closer to succeeding after rival bidding group 3F Holding, led by telecoms maverick Xavier Niel, pulled out, reports Reuters. It would bring an end to the 30-year reign of Casino CEO and controlling shareholder Jean-Charles Naouri at a time when France's traditional retail sector is adapting to the rise of e-commerce and hard-discount supermarket chains.
Did you know ...? Kaufland has launched its 300th e-charging station at the branch car park at Florianstrasse 1 in Hauzenberg, Germany. Since last October, the company has installed around 150 new e-charging stations nationwide, the company noted. In Bavaria, Kaufland already has over 50 e-charging stations, reports ESMmagazine.com. Its e-charging network consists largely of DC charging stations, which enable a faster charging process.
Did you know ...? Russia will reduce its oil exports by 2.1 million tons in the third quarter in line with planned voluntary export cuts of 500,000 barrels per day in August, its energy ministry said on Monday. The reduction, equivalent to 15.4 million barrels, will affect supplies to Russia's Western ports of Primorsk, Ust-Luga and Novorossiisk, as well as shipments via pipelines, reports Reuters. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and major producers including Russia, together known as OPEC+, have been cutting supply since November to support prices. Russia pledged to reduce its oil export supplies by 500,000 barrels per day in August in order to prop up the market, while Saudi Arabia extended its 1 million bpd output cuts.
