Spanish consumer prices rose by 8.9%, year on year, in September – down from 10.5% in the period through August, and slightly below the flash estimate of 9.0% released two weeks ago, final data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Friday, reports Reuters. Spain’s 12-month inflation in September was its slowest rate since May 2022. Analysts polled by Reuters saw the 12-month inflation to September running at 9.0%.
Did you know ...? US grocery giant Kroger Co. is in talks to merge with smaller rival Albertsons Companies, Inc., Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter. A deal would create a combined company with a market valuation of about $47 billion and would be one of the biggest in recent years in the retail space. According to Reuters, shares of Albertsons rose by 7% on the report, while Kroger’s stock slipped.
Did you know ...? German wholesale giant Metro aims to reduce water consumption across its operations by 10% per square metre of net operating space by 2030, compared to the base year of 2021, reports ESMmagazine.com. The move will contribute to the global community’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, which seeks to produce and consume sustainably and reduce the company’s operating costs.
