A Tesco spokesperson has told Checkout, “Following Mandate's request for discussions, Tesco has been in touch with Mandate. Tesco has informed Mandate that the company is and always has been open to constructive dialogue with Mandate to reach a reasonable and fair resolution to the changes to pre-1996 terms and conditions.
“It is for exactly this reason that Tesco attended 10 conciliation conferences in the Workplace Relations Commission and a Labour Court hearing and fully adhered to the industrial relations process including accepting the Labour Court’s Recommendation in its totality.”
As Tesco’s public dispute with worker’s union Mandate continues, all stores will remain open today.
“All of our stores remain open for customers today despite Mandate’s continued strike action,” they added.
