Eurospar Cobh, Cork, has raised more than €2,500 for its official charity partner, National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) in a recent fundraising day.
Following the successful event, Eurospar Cobh’s Shane Jones presented the money to the charity.
As part of a day-long celebration, the retailer donated the proceeds from all car washes and coffee sales on a single day, as well as providing plenty of entertainment for the wider Cobh community to enjoy.
This included delicious food samples, ice cream, and face painting for children.
Anyone who got their car washed was automatically entered into a draw to win €100s worth of prizes.
Entertainment was provided by local Cork radio station 96fm, who had their Street Fleet squad in attendance to add to the fun-filled atmosphere.
Commenting on the event, Jones said, “We are all very proud to support Eurospar’s national charity, National Breast Cancer Research Institute, and this was a really fun way of doing that.
“We raised €2,500 for them on the day, and it was wonderful to see so many of the local Cobh community get behind us and support the activities.”
The NBCRI, a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway, was chosen as Eurospar’s official charity partner for two years (2024-2026).
It will benefit from funds raised through a donation from the sale of select spar own brand products and other fundraising efforts such as Eurospar Cobh’s Car Wash Day, whereby all monies raised were donated.
