Fallon & Byrne To Open Dún Laoghaire Restaurant

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has announced that Fallon & Byrne will operate a new restaurant in the Tea Rooms in the People’s Park in Dún Laoghaire when renovations are complete there in the summer. It will be the first Fallon & Byrne restaurant opened outside of Dublin city.

An Cathaoirleach Cllr. Carrie Smyth said “I believe the Fallon & Byrne brand will compliment and strengthen the offering of Dún Laoghaire for locals and visitors alike and will provide a significant boost to the town.”

The original Pavilion building, which houses the Tea Rooms, is currently being renovated as part of the council's plans to restore the People’s Park to its original historic layout. A lightweight glass structure is being added to allow large amounts of light and a new kitchen, bar and toilets are also being constructed. The stone terrace is being enlarged for outdoor dining and the roof terrace will be accessed via the original metal staircases.

Fiona McHugh, owner of Fallon & Byrne spoke of the “honour” of opening a restaurant in “such a uniquely beautiful and historic building. […] We hope to create an elegant but relaxed dining experience centred on fresh seasonal food that will, we believe, be a great fit for both the Pavilion and the local area."

Fallon & Byrne won the award for Best Presentation 2013 in Checkout’s Best In Fresh Awards. This years awards will take place in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin on Tuesday 17 June.
