Bord Bia has revealed that fast food continues to dominate Irish Foodservice channels and still has a high demand in high quality casual dining, takeaway and food to-go options, accounting for over a third of consumer spend (38%). These findings were revealed in the The Foodservice Channel Insights Report, developed in partnership with Technomic Inc. The report also announced that the food service market has grown from €6.07 billion in 2013 to €6.13 billion this year, with growth forecasts to almost €6.5 billion by the end of 2017. Over 200 Irish Food suppliers and Foodservice trade buyers attended the Bord Bia Food Service Seminar, earlier today, which addressed issues on how to keep up with the ever changing consumer needs, and opportunities for suppliers to offer new products and solutions for their costumers. Other opportunities for Irish Food and Drink suppliers have risen with announcements by Subway, Caffe Nero, and JD Wetherspoons to expand their operations in the Irish Markets. Other highlighted trends in the report include: Health and Wellness; Value; Origin; and Ethnic cuisine.
