The President and hundreds of other mourners attended the funeral mass of retail giant and former Senator Feargal Quinn, which was held on Saturday, 27 April at St Fintan's Church in Sutton, Co Dublin.
In true Feargal Quinn style, it was a simple but moving and beautifully organised event, as befits the great organiser himself.
The mourners at the memorial lunch in the Intercontinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, included distinguished members of the Irish grocery trade, both past and present, who shared some wonderful stories about Ireland's greatest grocery retailer.
Tesco Ireland's placing of a full page advertisement in the national media, which described Feargal Quinn as a legend, leader and gentleman, was praised by many as an extremely classy and fitting gesture by a fellow retailer and former competitor.
Well done to Kari Daniels and her team at Tesco.
