The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has confirmed convenience store Gala as the new headline sponsor of the annual IFTA Gala Television Awards.
This year’s IFTA Gala Television Awards ceremony will take place on October 22nd at the Double Tree Hotel in Dublin and will recognise the very best of Irish creative talent and Irish homegrown TV programming across 23 categories, from current affairs to comedy.
Commenting on the partnership with IFTA, CEO of Gala Retail Gary Desmond said, “Irish programme-makers and Irish creative talent are truly raising the bar in delivering high-quality TV programmes to Irish audiences, and Gala is proud to support the Academy in highlighting these achievements.
“We’re confident that partnering with such an iconic Irish Institution as IFTA to celebrate the best in Irish television will resonate with our shoppers, as they’ll play a central role in which show wins the Gala TV Show of the Year, and as the awards are broadcast on TV3, everyone can enjoy the show at home,” he added.
The deal has seen Gala become the first-ever headline sponsor for the IFTA Television Awards. The three-year deal will be celebrated in Gala stores through consumer promotions, giving away top of the range electronics and VIP IFTA gift bags.
Gala’s social media channels will also play a key role in the partnership, as it asks for the public to vote for the Gala TV Show of the year through its Facebook page.
Aine Moriarty, CEO of the Irish Film & Television Academy welcomed the retailer’s support, saying, “Gala is a great Irish brand that is all about community, Irish innovation and quality, which are all qualities that reflect the great achievements of this vibrant and growing Irish industry and Irish creative talent.”
