Hassett’s Bakery has officially opened on Washington Street in Cork City, as it continues to expand its chain of retail units.
Founded in 1984 and still run by Michael Hassett, the acquisition of the unit formerly occupied by Wholly Grain, marks the company’s second expansion in the last 12 months in Cork City, having opened a retail unit in the English Market in December 2014.
Michael Hassett commented on the expansion, “Over the last 30 years we have built up a very strong and loyal customer base in Cork and have made the strategic decision to develop more retail units in the Cork.”
He added that, seeing a pick up on the retail side of the business, he “would like to have the opportunity to showcase our products in a café style model that we have developed successfully over the years.”
The new outlet on Washington Street will also see the creation of four new jobs for the area, adding to the 60 already created by Hassett’s.
