As the heatwave continues to baffle the Irish public, it has boosted the sales of ice cream, according to Newstalk.
The Irish newsgroup reports that ice cream maker HB said that nearly two million ice creams will be consumed during the heatwave in Ireland, and that more than 11 ice creams are being eaten per second.
According to Nielsen, the Iceberger is the standout favourite, with more than one being enjoyed every second. This is followed by Brunch, of which 50 are consumed every minute.
Paul Kelly, the head of marketing at Unilever, said, "We know Irish people are massive ice cream enthusiasts, however, it's undeniable that when the mercury rises it brings out the super fan in all of us."
