Iceland opened its third store in Cork on January 23rd, marking the 20th Iceland store opening in Ireland. The new store is in the Eastside Retail Park on Main Street in Ballincollig, Co Cork.
The new 8,500 square foot store will not only stock Iceland’s quality frozen produce, but also produce sourced by local supplier Meade Potato Company, as well as a selection of chilled goods and household essentials. Ballincollig customers will be able to avail of the Iceland Bonus Card, which means that with every €30 saved on to the card, customers get €1 free to spend in any Iceland store, whenever they choose.
The store opening is creating 26 new jobs in Ballincollig, bringing the total number of staff in Iceland Ireland to over 446 across 20 stores in 12 counties.
“We look forward to welcoming existing and new customers in Cork and showcasing the amazing quality products and fantastic value Iceland has to offer," says Ron Metcalfe, managing director of Iceland Ireland. "Iceland is proud to work with over 40 Irish suppliers, whose products enhance our frozen, grocery and chilled ranges and we’re looking forward to bringing our quality product to Ballincollig.”
In 2017 Iceland Ireland announced that had invested €12 million into nine new stores, with more store openings to be announced later this year.
