Joyce’s has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of the Nestor’s Supermarket Group in Galway.
The proposed deal includes four Nestor's stores at Fr. Griffin Road, Ballybane, Oranmore and Doughiska.
Nestor’s supermarkets, which are currently in receivership, will be re-branded under the Joyce's name.
The local Galway company said that completion of the deal is subject to certain conditions, including approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
"We are always open to exploring opportunities for growth. Once the requisite approvals are obtained, we look forward to working with the employees at each of the locations to develop four new Joyce’s supermarkets." Pat Joyce, managing director of Joyce’s Supermarket Group said.
"We pride ourselves in providing a wide range of locally-sourced products to customers throughout our existing stores and welcome the opportunity to offer the same level of quality in four additional Joyce’s outlets.”
Once the proposed transaction completes, the new stores will add to Joyce’s portfolio, which includes stores in Headford, Athenry, Tuam, Indreabhan and Knocknacarra.
