Aldi's Kevin the Carrot is back on Irish TV screens this Christmas with a new nemesis Ebanana Scrooge.
Supermarket giant Aldi has brought the pair together for its Christmas TV ad, and as part of the seasonal campaign they will highlight their charity partner Barnardos, who they teamed up with in October 2020 with a goal of raising €1 million across a two year partnership.
Airtime
The Christmas Carrot TV ad, which premiered on TV at 7.15pm on 11 November during an Emmerdale ad break on Virgin Media One, is a charming Dickensian-style take on A Christmas Carol, and follows the story of Christmas-loathing Ebanana Scrooge, who is reminded of the joys of the festive season by Kevin the Carrot who returns to screens once again this year.
The TV ad will also feature on Thursdays in Nevins Irish Seafood on RTÉ, with spots in Coronation Street and The Late Late Show on Friday.
In addition, you can watch it in Bake Off: Extra Slice and Gogglebox and over the weekend, in Last Singer Standing, The Cube and Friends, as well as spots in the GAA programming on Saturday and the Luxembourg vs Ireland World Cup Qualifier on Sunday.

Yuletide Story
The animated Yuletide story is voiced by Chef Catherine Fulvio, and features the well-known Irish ballad ‘Fairytale of New York.' It introduces viewers to a medley of fruit and vegetable characters, as well as Tiny Tom, Peas and Goodwill and Kevin’s Dickensian family.
“A Christmas Carrot by Charles Chickens’ is inspired by arguably the most famous classic Christmas tale of all time," explains Rita Kirwan, marketing director at Aldi Ireland. "Our story centres around a banana named Ebanana Scrooge. Scarred from an early childhood experience when he was rejected by Santa, he doesn’t like Christmas. In fact, he hates it, so he sets out to spoil everyone else’s festive fun too. Will he succeed? Or will he finally discover his true Christmas spirit?
"This campaign takes us on his journey, capturing the seasonal sense of kindness, peace and goodwill. We hope the campaign will remind everyone of the true meaning of Christmas and how important it is to be kind over the festive period."
This is the sixth successive year that Aldi’s Christmas ad campaign has featured Kevin the Carrot, with last year’s ad campaign racking up over 3.2 million views online.
Barnardos Partnership
Aldi also launched a two year partnership with children’s charity Barnardos in October 2020, with the goal of raising €1 million for vulnerable young children across Ireland.
The partnership is supporting families in need by raising vital funds for their Early Years and Family Support Services, including providing children with healthy breakfasts, hot meals and nutritious snacks, as well as vitally needed emotional support services.
"We are committed to achieving our proposed target of €1million for our charity partner Barnardos and would encourage everyone to support by texting ‘KIDS’ to 50300 to donate €4 to help support a vulnerable child this Christmas,” she concluded.
