Lidl Ireland has announced it has partnered with parkrun to become its official fresh food partner.
Parkrun is a free-of-charge, family friendly, community event held in parks and open spaces around the world every weekend.
The new three-year partnership will see the retailer support parkrun as they continue to encourage the public to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle by offering all of its customers fresh, nutritious produce at affordable prices.
Speaking at the launch, Kathryn Thomas, broadcaster, commented, "Regular exercise and maintaining healthy, nutritious meals are an important part of my weekly routine so partnering with them is really rewarding for me.
"Being active and eating well doesn’t have to cost a fortune and Lidl and parkrun are the perfect example of this."
Coupon Codes
Lidl noted that it will also provide exclusive coupons and free products to parkrunners and volunteers every week via the Lidl Plus App to 'reward their efforts and make it easier to make healthy decisions while shopping'.
The unique coupon codes will be communicated via the parkrun newsletter on a weekly basis, it added.
Healthy Lifestyle
Lidl highlighted that it plans to attend every single parkrun location in Ireland over the course of the partnership to distribute fresh fruit, refreshments and its exclusive Lidl parkrun t-shirts.
Commenting on the new partnership with parkrun, Joe Mooney, senior partnerships manager at Lidl Ireland said, "We want to give you a fresh way to get your healthy lifestyle up and running by combining the freshest fruit and veg with the most inclusive form of community exercise - the classic parkrun".
Getting Active
Local parkrun events are hosted in over 100 locations around Ireland to 'encourage people to add physical activity to their weekly routine'.
Matt Shields, country manager for parkrun Ireland, added, “It’s a natural fit, with the partnership highlighting the opportunity for parkrunners to continue to make healthy choices outside of parkrun events.
"Eating healthily and getting active, whether that’s walking, jogging, running or volunteering, go hand-in-hand with making the world a healthier and happier place."
