Lidl Ireland has announced that a planning application has been lodged for a new Lidl store as part of a wider development in Athenry, Co. Galway.
If approved, the new store will expand the retailer’s Co. Galway portfolio to 11 stores, with the opening of Lidl Wellpark on Thursday 12 November and two more Galway sites in planning, the retailer said.
In conjunction with the Landowner, Lidl is working with architects and planners to create a design to ensure that the new development will contribute positively to Athenry.
The brand-new store will create 30 new local jobs with the retailer in Athenry, it added.
Lidl Ireland employs 5,000 employees in its 163 stores, Head Office in Tallaght and three distribution centres and regional offices based in Charleville, Mullingar and Newbridge.
