Lidl Ireland has confirmed that it will open the doors to its new store in Enfield, Co. Meath, on Thursday 13 February.
The new premises will create 20 permanent jobs for the area.
Local Ladies’ Gaelic Football (LGFA) star Aoibhín Cleary will be present to cut the ribbon on the significant development and welcome shoppers into the new store.
The new Lidl boasts a spacious shop floor, wide aisles, long tills, restrooms, and baby-changing facilities, as well as an in-store bakery and spacious car park.
In addition to opening-day discounts and supplier and family demonstrations at the new store, the first ten shoppers will receive a gift card to redeem against their in-store shop.
Continuing the retailer’s ambitious expansion plans, the new store is the retailer’s 182nd Irish outlet, and its 225th on the island of Ireland.
With sustainability at its core, the new Enfield store will also incorporate LED lighting, heat pumps and PV solar panels, to aid in reducing carbon emissions.
‘Thrilled To Deliver’
Speaking ahead of the store opening, Lidl Ireland’s regional property director, Brian Smyth, said, “As we mark our 25th year in Ireland, I’m delighted to confirm our first new store opening of the year at Enfield, Co. Meath.
“Since opening our first store in the county at Trim in 2004, we have become a pillar of the Meath community, employing more than 140 people across our stores in Ashbourne, Bettystown, Clonee, Trim, Dunshauglin and Navan, and serving thousands of customers.
“The new Enfield store has been in high demand by local residents, with 93% of residents pledging their support for the new store in the area and research showing that almost 60% of residents travel to shop at Lidl stores in nearby towns Maynooth, Kilcock and Trim.
“We are thrilled to deliver on this demand and bring a state-of-the-art store to Enfield, bringing convenience, quality, and market-leading value to local shoppers.
“I know the new store team is excited to welcome the community to experience the new store, so I would advise shoppers to get down early and avail of our opening-day offers.”
‘Honoured’
Meath Senior Ladies’ Football team captain Cleary added, “I’m honoured to be selected to cut the ribbon on Lidl’s newest store in Meath, and to meet with Lidl shoppers on opening day.
“Lidl has been a long-standing partner to [the] LGFA, and it’s great to see them investing further in the county and supporting more local communities.
“It’s a welcome boost for the area, and I can’t wait to celebrate with shoppers on 13 February!”
In its latest impact report, Lidl Ireland announced that it procured €91 million worth of goods and services from Meath suppliers and business partners in 2023.
Its key Meath contracts include a long-standing partnership with Meade Farm, which worked with the retailer to develop Lidl Farm – an 8.5-acre resource for schoolchildren, based in Newbridge.
Lidl Ireland currently employs more than 6,000 people in its 181 stores and its head office in Tallaght, as well as at its three distribution centres and regional offices.
