Lidl Ireland has announced that it will open its new store in Mallow, Co. Cork, on Thursday 20 October at 8am.
According to the discounter, an additional six new local jobs will be created, bringing team members at the new Mallow store to 28.
A further 100 jobs were also created during the development and construction phases, the latter of which is now almost complete.
Commenting ahead of the new-store opening, David Duffy, manager, Lidl Mallow, said, “The team have been working very hard behind the scenes to get the store up and running ahead of the opening.
“The new store offers a more spacious shopping experience and looks fantastic. We are excited to welcome customers to experience the new features of the store while shopping our quality range of incredibly priced products.”
Store Features
The new store will have a spacious layout featuring high ceilings, wide aisles, and an improved shop floor.
The state-of-the-art store will provide increased natural light for customers and staff alike, with glass-fronted glazing, LED lighting, and an energy-efficient system provided by 100% green energy.
The store grounds will feature ample customer car-parking, with EV charger points, and a wildflower garden, creating a haven for pollinators like bees, butterflies and hoverflies, the retailer added.
Local Suppliers
The new store will also support many local suppliers in the region, including West Cork Distillers, which supplies Lidl stores nationwide with premium award-winning whiskeys and gins, including Wild Burrow Irish Gin and Dundalgan Irish Whiskey.
Hassetts Bakery, which recently signed a contract worth over €6 million to supply a new chilled cake range to Lidl stores, will be stocked within the new store.
Keohane Seafoods will supply the Mallow store with a wide range of seafood.
