Lidl Ireland Named Most Sustainable Retailer In RepTrak Sustainability Index 2024

Lidl Ireland has been named Ireland’s most sustainable retailer and the third-most sustainable organisation overall in the Ireland RepTrak Sustainability Index 2024, carried out by The Reputations Agency.

The index tracks the perceptions of more than 5,000 members of the public on 100 prominent organisations in Ireland, measuring 16 sustainability factors across environmental impact, social performance, workplace and conduct.

This position is the retailer’s highest placing since the study began, in 2011, and underscores Lidl’s commitment to tangible action to fight climate change, protect the environment, and build a better social and economic future for the next generation.

‘Protect Our Planet’

Speaking about Lidl’s placing in the index, the chief executive officer of Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, Robert Ryan, said, “We continue to take our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment extremely seriously, from construction to responsible sourcing to industry-leading recycling initiatives, our ‘A Better Tomorrow’ sustainability strategy is fully embedded in all areas of our business.

“Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time.

“At Lidl, we continue to set ambitious goals and take tangible actions to mitigate these challenges and protect our planet for future generations because it’s the right thing to do.

“Today’s results reflect that these actions are resonating with the public, as we remain true to our mission to offer customers the best value for money through simple and sustainable action.”

Reputable

In May, Lidl was named the most reputable retailer and second-most reputable organisation overall in the Ireland RepTrak 2024 study of 100 organisations.

In addition to this, the retailer was named Ireland’s most emotionally connected retailer and Ireland’s third-most emotionally connected brand – after Cadbury’s and Tayto – in the Brand Reaction Index, published by Red C.

The retailer jumped by seven points, to claim the top retailer spot in just one year.
