Lidl Ireland today opened the doors to its brand-new store in Moycullen, Galway, creating 25 permanent jobs for the local community.

Galway Ladies Gaelic Football (LGFA) stars Ailbhe Davoren and team captain Kate Geraghty joined the store team to cut the ribbon at the retailer’s tenth Galway location, which is located in the Gaeltacht region of the county and thus features signs in Irish.

Lidl also donated €1,000 in Lidl vouchers towards two local sporting clubs – basketball club Cumann Cispheile Mhaigh Cuilinn and LGFA club Cuman Peil na mBan Maigh Cuilinn.

Along with opening day entertainment and middle-aisle deals, queuing customers also recieved complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in-store.

The new store offers customers a premium shopping experience, with wide aisles, self-service checkouts, two Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) machines, long tills as well as an in-store bakery and off licence.

The opening of Lidl’s tenth Galway store in Moycullen marks a major investment for the retailer, both in the local community and in its wider retail estate portfolio, continuing Lidl’s ambitious expansion plans.
