Lidl Ireland To Open New Clondalkin Store On Halloween

Lidl Ireland has confirmed that it will open its doors to a brand-new store in Kilcarbery, Old Nangor Road, in Clondalkin, on Thursday 31 October at 8am.

Dublin Ladies’ Gaelic Footballer Hannah Tyrrell will join the store team on the morning, to cut the ribbon for the official Halloween opening.

Bringing its first major retail offering to the area, Lidl has created 30 permanent new retail jobs within the local area, adding to its workforce of over 6,000 around Ireland.

The retailer commenced construction on the store in May this year and supported up to 120 temporary jobs in the development phase.

The new store boasts a large sales floor with wide aisles – offering customers a premium shopping experience – two Deposit Return Scheme machines, long tills, customer restrooms and baby-changing facilities, as well as an in-store bakery and off-licence.

Externally, the store benefits from regenerative landscaping and a spacious customer car park with dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging spaces.

The Kilcarbery store will also incorporate a series of sustainability features, such as a certified energy management system, high-performing energy-efficient technologies, and the installation of highly efficient solar panels.

The opening of the store represents a major investment by Lidl, both in the local community and its wider portfolio, which comprises a network of 53 stores in Dublin, following the opening of another store in Newcastle in August.

Lidl Kilcarbery will take the retailer’s network in Ireland up to 181 stores.

‘Highly Anticipated’

Damien Ryan, the regional property director at Lidl Ireland, said of the opening, “We’re delighted to announce that we will open our doors to the Kilcarbery community on Thursday 31 October.

“This store has been highly anticipated by the local community, and their ongoing support for the project at every stage has been extremely positive and very much appreciated.

“Kilcarbery is a thriving community, and we’re proud to be delivering the first major retail offering in the area.

“Local shoppers will now benefit from quality products at market-leading prices, and we look forward to welcoming them to enjoy an unrivalled shopping experience with Ireland’s best-value supermarket.”

‘A Thriving Area’

Along with opening-day entertainment and middle-aisle offers, early-bird shoppers first in the queue will receive complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in store.

Local charity Archways will also receive a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers from the Kilcarbery store team to help the charity continue supporting young people, families and communities experiencing behavioural, social and emotional issues.

Dublin LGFA player Tyrrell added, “As a local, I’m really excited to see a brand-new Lidl open in Clondalkin and to be there on opening day to meet with shoppers.

“Lidl has always been a great supporter of its communities through its partnership with [the] LGFA, so I’m delighted to do the honours and officially cut the ribbon on the new store.

“Clondalkin is a thriving area, so it’s brilliant to see the community benefitting from this retail and employment boost.

“I’d encourage everyone to come down and visit on opening day – and be first in the queue to grab those middle-aisle offers while you can!”
