Lidl Ireland To Open Tenth Galway Store In Moycullen

Lidl Ireland has confirmed that it will open the doors of its brand-new store in Moycullen, Galway, on Thursday 27 February at 8am.

Located in the Gaeltacht region of Galway, the county’s tenth Lidl store – which will create 25 permanent retail jobs for the local community – will feature signage in the Irish language throughout.

Galway Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) player Ailbhe Davoren and team captain Kate Geraghty will join the store team on the morning to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.

Along with opening-day entertainment and middle-aisle offers, the first shoppers in the queue will also receive complimentary Lidl vouchers to spend in store.

The retailer will also donate €1,000 towards the development of a new community centre in Moycullen.

The Store

Lidl’s new store offers customers a premium shopping experience, with wide aisles, self-service checkouts, two Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) machines, and long tills, as well as an in-store bakery and off-licence.

Externally, there is regenerative landscaping, in addition to a spacious car park with EV-charging spaces.

Sustainability is at the core of the new development, and the Moycullen store has an ISO 50001-certified energy management system, high-performing energy-efficient technologies, dedicated EV-charging spaces, and solar panels.

The opening of Galway’s tenth Lidl store marks a major investment for the retailer, both in the local community and in its wider property portfolio.

Lidl also has stores in Clifden, Oranmore, Doughiska, Tuam, Knocknacarra, Wellpark Road, Gort, Ballinasloe, and Headford Road.

“Moycullen is a vibrant community, and we are proud to introduce Lidl’s offering to the area.

“Local shoppers can now enjoy high-quality products at unbeatable prices, and we look forward to welcoming them to experience Ireland’s best-value supermarket.

“This year, Lidl celebrates its 25th anniversary in Ireland – it’s a great way to begin our celebrations in Galway, launching our tenth and newest store in the county.”
