Lidl Ireland has recently launched its annual trolley dash to give customers the chance to win their Christmas food shop for just €1, in aid of charity partner Jigsaw.
Every store across the country will have one winner who will be challenged to a ‘Supermarket Sweep’ style dash around their local Lidl store to grab as much of their Christmas shopping, the discounter explained.
Launching the trolley dash with husband Arthur Gourounlian, TV star Brian Dowling noted, "Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to dash down the aisles of an empty supermarket scrambling for everything they can in two minutes."
Mental Health Charity Jigsaw
Jigsaw offers supports to more than 250,000 people in schools, communities, workplaces and clubs across Ireland, whether that be a listening ear, giving expert mental health advice and offering families, teachers, and those who support young people ways to cope.
"The Trolley Dash is such fun and a great way to support young people’s mental health charity Jigsaw," Dowling added.
Significant Fundraiser
Commenting on the launch Owen Keogh, Lidl Ireland’s head of CSR, highlighted that Trolley Dash is one of Lidl’s most important local fundraising activities of the year.
“We know that around Christmas it is important for us all to do our bit to support a worthy cause and assist future generations.
"Trolley Dash has become a hugely successful community fundraising event for our charity partner Jigsaw and with 100% of all ticket sales going to the youth mental health charity, and we hope to top previous years ticket sales," he said.
Random Winners
From Dingle to Donegal, every Lidl store in the country will be picking one winner at random to complete a dash in their store, and with previous dashes valued well into the hundreds, customers are encouraged to get into stores from Saturday to secure their entry.
Tickets will be sold at Lidl checkouts nationwide between from Saturday 13 November until Sunday 28 November and shoppers can purchase as many tickets as they wish here.
